sat 5th March, Styal 3 Lostock 4; Linotype/CHN Res 4 Styal Res 0; Broadheath JFC 2 Styal 'A' 0

Styal 'A' didn't impose themselves on the opposition during the first half and struggled to muster any attempts on goal despite a stiff breeze at their backs. With their passing loose and no-one playing with any conviction it was atypical loose midfield pass that put their own defence on the back foot and Broadheath capitalised shooting the opener past stand in keeper Jackson. The second half was better and the introduction of Twentyman and Allen saw some forays down the wings on both sides. However, there was still no meaningful shots on goal and as the game went on with Styal pushing it was always likely the Braodheath would finish the game off with a breakaway goal. Exactly what happened with 10 monutes to go.

Sat 12th Feb Billinge Res 2 Styal Res 1; Styal 'A' 8 Conway 0

Dave Oates efforts to get the pitch payable for the first team home game failed due to the heavy rain and the fishermen continued to be out in force where the water has built up.

Styal 'A' put in a good attacking display against Conway with Kelly 3, Littler 2 and Ghassemi 2 scoring. An own goal made up the 8. At the other end stand in keeper Matt Purvis had a fine game clearing his lines when called upon. He protected Styal's first clean sheet of the season when he got enough of a hand on the ball to stop a Conway effort early on tipping it onto the post. Rankin, Slavin and Jackson were all quick to clear any danger. Kelly and Littler worked hard upfront causing all sorts of problems for the opponents and the Cookie twins ran the midfield for the most part. Zain Abassi came on at half time and showed some promise whilst Darren Fluery grafted hard in both midfield and full back roles.
